Typically, fireproof containers such as metal, ceramic, or tempered glass are recommended for candle use. This remains our primary suggestion for Akari Sand Wax Candles as an added precaution. However, if you adhere to the minimum container size requirements, other containers can also be safely utilized. The key consideration is the size of the container.
We recommend a minimum container width of 10cm at its narrowest point for single-wick candles. This ensures that there is at least 5cm of sand wax surrounding each wick, which effectively prevents the melt pool from reaching the container's edge.
Additionally, we advise maintaining some space filled with sand wax between the bottom of the wick and the container. This design feature helps prevent the bottom of the container from overheating when the flame reaches the end of the wick, allowing the wick to fall over and self-extinguish for enhanced safety.
As always, we recommend monitoring all burning candles and occasionally touching the container to ensure it is not heating excessively during use.

AKARI TIMELAPSE & MELT POOL

One common misconception about Akari Sand Wax Candles is that they will resemble traditional candles after just a few hours of burning, losing the unique benefits of quick refreshing and self-extinguishing features. While it’s true that Akari Sand Wax melts around the wick, if you follow our recommended minimum container size, the melt pool will never reach the edge of the container.
You might be wondering: isn’t that the opposite of traditional candles, where ensuring the melt pool reaches the edge is essential to prevent tunneling?
Yes, it is indeed different. At Akari, we are revolutionizing the candle experience, offering a product that not only enhances safety but also provides convenience and sustainability. Embrace the innovative design of our Sand Wax Candles, and discover how they can elevate your candle experience.
Why is there a minimum container size for Akari Candles?
There are several important reasons.
1. Fire Safety:
To promote sustainability, we encourage customers to refill their old candle jars and repurpose various containers into candles. However, these containers may not always withstand the heat generated by a burning candle. By ensuring a minimum container size, we prevent the melt pool from reaching the edge, reducing the risk of overheating or damaging the container.
2. Easy Refreshing:
A properly sized container ensures that the melting sand wax never adheres to the edges. This allows for effortless removal of the used wax, enabling you to make your candle look brand new with each use or transfer the sand wax to a different container seamlessly.
